IESL NSW chapter not only has provided a forum for Engineers of Sri Lankan background, it is becoming an avenue for our engineers to make valuable contributions to the humanity through sharing their knowledge and experience. There is a significant number of Sri Lankan engineers scattered around the world with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in many different engineering disciplines. Most of them would offer their help and support with their skills and experience in the modernisation process taking place in Sri Lanka.
In this year it is our intention to bring this valuable pool of resources to the attention of Sri Lankan authorities and to set up a formal pathway to channel such services to places where it’s needed. Therefore one of the main objectives of this year’s committee would be formalising and strengthening the Knowledge Sharing Program,
We will continue our standard program of public lectures, awards presentations, and industry visits in this year as well. In addition we are planning to organise industry specific, discussions for selected topics, such as popular engineering software tools, technologies, and mentoring sessions in different locations. The aim is to help engineers to develop new skills which will be useful for their career development and further education.
It is important to recognise the presence of a large group of young Sri Lankan engineers in Sydney and ACT, who are yet to join and take part in our activities. We are planning to have a family day for engineers, allowing those young families to meet and enjoy the company of each other in a relaxed environment.
IESL NSW Chapter will be working towards improved regional collaboration among fellow chapters in Australia and New Zealand, and maintaining strong relationship with IESL Head office, IE Australia.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members, well wishers and active group of supporters for their dedicated participation of our activities and the continuous support extended to us all the time. I invite you to take part in improving our services by sending your suggestions, comments etc.
On behalf of the IESL NSW Chapter committee I wish you a Happy New Year 2017.
